Effective Information Sharing & Security Programme

Effective Information Sharing & Security Programme

Home > Projects & Groups > Effective Information Sharing & Security Programme

Effective Information Sharing & Security (EISS) is a programmatic strand of the North West e-Government Group (NWeGG) with the aim of helping Local Authorities and their key partners to join up service deliver and address key issues such as benefit fraud. This is also the North West Information Sharing and Security Group (NW ISSG).

The programme particularly emphasises support to: successfully and securely sharing information across NW Authorities and partners to enable better, more effective services in a number of areas such as Crime and disorder, Every Child Matters, and Antisocial behaviour; developing a better understanding of how to securely share information with clear agreed methods of working collaboratively; and agreeing a common or similar information sharing protocol that all North West councils, Fire and Rescue Service, Police, Health and other Partners will sign up to.

Among the activities that will enable us to provide a service to meet these objectives are:

  • Stakeholder engagement: Engaging leadership at a sub-regional level on the information sharing agenda.
  • Shaping national agendas: providing a NW voice to central government departments, and being the conduit for bringing useful knowledge from national government directly to EISS practitioners.
  • Tools and guidance: developing activities, tools and guidance and training to specifically benefit the North West.  For example, the Development and adoption of common information sharing concordat for the North West.
  • Knowledge sharing: regular Information Sharing and Knowledge Management networking forums featuring expert presentations and group activities on topics of relevance to EISS practitioners.
  • Support: Provision of a central contact point for enquiries relating to all aspects of EISS, and offering matchmaking service between Local Authorities and other public sector partners.
