Have you visited the new NWEGG forums  a place where you and like minded colleagues for the BPI community and additional groups from NWEGG can have open discussions around national and regional activities between North West Local Authorities and government bodies such as the IDeA, esd toolkit, OGC and CLG.

You will need to be signed in to the main site to access this area, once logged in please use the navigation pane to the left of this screen to access the forums.

Is your authority spending a fortune on BPI training and thinking there must be a better way? …….. We offer free Business Improvement Training (BIT) available to NW public sector organisations funded by the Learning and Skills Council, delivered via 2 providers. The training will give your staff key skills in lean tools and techniques that are applied immediately as part of the course. Authorities like Preston, Chorley, Wirral, Rochdale and South Ribble are already making good use of it and we are aiming to have a total of 400 people through the training by April 2010. .  Click here to find out more, access case studies and instructions on what to do next!

Excellence in Service Redesign Programme (formerly BPI) is a programmatic strand of the North West e-Government Group (NWeGG) with the aim to help Local Authorities and their partners to address some of the real and immediate transformation challenges they face in improving the process for delivering public services. Based on the CSR-07 report and accompanying materials from the CLG the North West has an objective of saving in the region of £234 million from business process improvement related activities.

Over 35 North West councils contributed to the development of the 2008-11 ESR programme which particularly emphasises the following objectives: we will have seen some really transformed services that are properly modernised; there will be lots of evidence of good practice shared and implemented; there will have been a culture change in leadership and management that delivers more effective change and encourages staff to be part of change.

Among the activities that will enable us to provide a service to meet these objectives are:

  • Stakeholder engagement: contacting every Authority member’s ESR lead in the North West to understand their transformation strategy and underlying technology as a basis of future support and matching making between councils.
  • Shaping national agendas: providing a NW voice to central government departments, and being the conduit for bringing useful knowledge from national government directly to BPI practitioners.
  • Tools and guidance: developing activities, tools and guidance and training to specifically benefit the North West.  For example, NWeGG is well positioned to negotiate heavily discounted rates for key BPI skills training.
  • Knowledge sharing: regular ESR networking forums featuring expert presentations and group activities on topics of relevance to BPI practitioners.
  • Support: Provision of a central contact point for enquiries relating to all aspects of BPI, and offering matchmaking service between Local Authorities and other public sector partners

Please join the group or contact the programme office via admin@nwegg.org.uk to find out more.
